Published on July 8, 2019, David De Gea has finally accepted a new £350,000-a-week contract with Manchester United, handing manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a significant boost.

According to reports, the 28-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was previously seeking a pay rise that would match the £500,000-a-week salary of Alexis Sanchez, who joined the club from Arsenal.

However, De Gea has reportedly agreed to sign a new five-year deal, which will see him become the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world, with a weekly salary of £350,000.

The new contract comes after De Gea was waiting to see if Real Madrid would revive their interest in signing him, but it emerged that Zinedine Zidane was pushing for other transfer targets.

De Gea's agent, Jorge Mendes, had fruitful discussions with Manchester United officials, leading to the agreement of the new contract.

With this new deal, De Gea will extend his stay at Old Trafford to five years, cementing his position as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League.
