Deputy President William Ruto's supporters in Mombasa were left in awe when a man gifted Malindi Member of Parliament (MP) Aisha Jumwa Ksh100 during a rally in Mvita Constituency on Monday, December 20, 2021.

The man's surprise gift elicited cheers from the crowd, with Jumwa acknowledging it with a smile, saying, “A soda for me? Thank you.”

The gesture seemed to be motivated by Jumwa's compelling speech on land issues affecting people in the Coastal region, where she castigated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Leader Raila Odinga for not doing enough to help residents acquire title deeds.

“Raila and his handshake partner, President Uhuru Kenyatta, have refused to solve our land issues. But don’t worry, soon we’ll have a solution,” Jumwa stated.

She also urged Deputy President Ruto to implement the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report when he ascends to the Presidency.

Deputy President Ruto reiterated his “Bottom-Up” political ideology, stating, “We must sort out land issues affecting Kenyans at large.”

He added that his government has issued over 500,000 title deeds over the last nine years and will prioritize the issuance of title deeds to end the squatter problem.

The rally was attended by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) allied MPs, including Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, as well as Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Hassan Omar.
