On July 7, 2019, Brazil secured their ninth Copa America title with a 3-1 win over Peru in the final match.

The match was a repeat of their Group A clash, where Brazil hammered Peru 5-0 in the final group game of the first round.

However, this time around, Peru was a better side, having dumped Uruguay and Chile out in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

Brazil opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Everton, who tucked home Gabriel Jesus' delightful delivery at the near post.

Peru pulled one back from a penalty in the 45th minute, courtesy of Paolo Guerrero, who sent Alisson Becker the wrong way.

However, Brazil regained the lead just two minutes later, with Jesus scoring his second goal of the match.

Jesus was given his marching orders in the 70th minute after a second bookable offense, leaving Brazil with 10 men.

Despite this, Brazil managed to secure the win, with Richarlison converting a penalty in the 88th minute to seal the victory.

With this win, Brazil became South America champions for the ninth time.
