December 19, 2021, saw a heated match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, with Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp expressing his frustration over several contentious decisions made by the referee.

One of the most contentious moments came when Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane launched into a lunging tackle on Liverpool's Andy Robertson, which Klopp felt should have resulted in a red card. Instead, Kane was only shown a yellow card, one of eight dished out by referee Paul Tierney in the match.

Klopp was also yellow-carded for his rant at the fourth official, sarcastically bowing as he went into the book. The German manager did not have any complaints about Robertson's 77th-minute red card for an ugly tackle on Spurs defender Emerson Royal, following a VAR check, but was mystified by Kane not getting one earlier.
