On December 18, 2021, the Kirigiti shooting range in Kiambu County played host to the first-ever IDPA Disciplined Forces shooting competition, attracting a total of 107 shooters from various disciplined forces in Kenya.
Among the participating forces were the DCI, ATPU, GSU, KDF, AP, Kenya Prisons, NIS, KWS, NYS, and Presidential Escort.
The competition saw officers from these forces compete in various divisions, with Master Daniel Mutiso of Kenya Prisons emerging as the Senior High trophy winner, while Master Samuel Chacha of GSU took home the ESP High trophy.
Other division winners included Peter Kiveleeti (SSP High), Stanlus Masha (CCP High), James Ekaale (PCC High), Onesmus Koech (REV High), Bonvas Momanyi (Military High), Agness Wangeci (Lady High), and Benjamin Muema (Most Accurate).
Event organizer Sammy Onyango expressed his gratitude to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and DCI George Kinoti for their support, stating that the competition was a success due to their blessings.
Chief Inspector of Police Alvin Sosura, who was recently bestowed with a Head of State commendation by President Uhuru, emphasized the importance of the DF synergy in sharing information and intelligence, which has contributed to the war against terrorism and crime.
He also noted that the competition was a success due to the high level of professionalism displayed by the participants, with no incidents or injuries reported.
As Kenyans celebrate the festive season, Sosura urged them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
