On Saturday morning, a devastating road accident occurred along the Kenol-Sagana road in Murang'a County, claiming the lives of three students from Chogoria Girls High School and a matatu driver.

The accident happened around 6:50 am at Kambiti area, where a PSV vehicle collided with a lorry carrying farm produce.

According to Murang'a South Police Commander Alexander Shikondi, the matatu driver was overtaking when the accident occurred.

“Many passengers of the matatu were students heading towards Nairobi for the Christmas vacation,” Shikondi said in a phone interview with KNA.

The road where the accident occurred is currently under construction, with a dual carriage project underway. Shikondi warned drivers to be extra cautious while driving along the road due to road diversions and deep trenches.

Wreckages of the two vehicles were towed to Makuyu police station for further investigation.
