Kenya's Marathon Heroes Shine Bright

Kenyan athletes have been making waves in the marathon scene, bringing pride to their nation with their impressive performances.

Philemon Kiplimo, Collins Koros, and Sheila Chepkirui were among the winners in the Bahrain Night Half Marathon, held in Bahrain on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

Philemon Kiplimo took home a prize of Sh3.3 million after winning the Bahrain Royal Night Half Marathon.

He was followed by Kibiwott, who set a world record of 57:32 in the Valencia Half Marathon in 2020.

Sheila Kiprotich dominated the women's category, while Mark Korir won the Zurich Malaga Marathon in Malaga, Spain, with Beatrice Cheptoo finishing third in the women's category.

On December 5, Nancy Jelegat won the Valencia Marathon in Spain, with Lawrence Cherono taking the men's title.

Other notable winners include Benson Kipruto and Diana Kipyokei, who won the Boston Marathon in the US on October 11, and Joyciline Jepkosgei, who won the London Marathon in the UK on October 3.

Bethwel Yegon finished second in the Berlin Marathon in Germany on September 26, while Ruth Chepng'etich won the Chicago Marathon in the US on October 10.

Albert Korir and Peres Jepchirchir won the New York Marathon on November 7, and Peres Jepchirchir and Eliud Kipchoge also won the marathon at the Olympics in Sapporo, Japan, on August 8.

As we look back on the year 2021, it's essential to acknowledge the achievements of these athletes and use them as motivation to push ourselves to greater heights in 2022.
