Published on July 8, 2019, the Safari Rally, billed as the toughest in the world, presented a unique challenge to its participants.

The rally's demanding course, featuring bends, flat stretches, and tricky pools of water and sticky mud, pushed drivers to their limits.

Among the 48 cars that started at Kasarani Super Special Stage, only 27 finished the rally at Sopa Lodge in Naivasha, with State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita and his navigator Laban Cliff finishing 24th in their Mitsubishi Evo 9.

Waita's achievement is all the more impressive considering the high level of competition, and he will undoubtedly return to his job at State House with his head held high.

Young McRae Kimathi, named after the three-time Safari Rally winner, was the youngest finisher, placing 21st and ahead of Waita.

Thousands of spectators, including Sports CS Amina Mohamed, witnessed the enthralling action in Soy Sambu and Kedong in Naivasha.
