December 11, 2021, marked a significant day in the Premier League as Liverpool hosted Aston Villa in a highly anticipated match. The return of Steven Gerrard, a Liverpool-born former captain and Champions League winner, to Anfield as Aston Villa manager was met with little fanfare.
