On a dramatic night at Goodison Park, Everton edged out Arsenal 2-1 in a Premier League match on Monday, December 6, 2021.

The win marked Everton's first victory under Rafael Benitez, who took charge nine matches ago.

Everton's Richarlison scored two goals, but the first was disallowed by VAR technology due to offside, before he equalized in the 80th minute after Arsenal's Martin Odegaard had given his team the lead in the first half.

Odegaard's goal was set up by a clever combination with Kieran Tierney, but Richarlison's second goal came just seconds before the final whistle, securing a crucial win for Everton.

The victory lifted Everton to 12th place in the Premier League table, eight points behind Arsenal, who are currently seventh.

For Everton, the win was a much-needed boost, as they had been on a nine-match winless streak, and a loss would have set a new low in their history, dating back to 1994.
