Kenyan football legend Mzee Joe Kadenge has passed away at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of talent and dedication to the sport.

According to his son Oscar, Mzee Kadenge breathed his last on Sunday morning at Meridian Hospital in Nairobi, after a long battle with stroke.

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves across the country, with President Uhuru Kenyatta, political leaders, and members of the football fraternity sending their condolences to the family.

President Kenyatta described Mzee Kadenge's death as a loss to the sporting fraternity and the nation, saying, 'It is with profound sadness that I have learnt of the demise of Mzee Joe Kadenge. His death is a loss to the sporting fraternity and our nation. Joe exemplified talent, dedication and patriotism. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.'

Deputy President William Ruto lauded Mzee Kadenge for raising a family of great footballers, while ODM leader Raila Odinga described him as a true ambassador for the country and Kenyan soccer.

Football Kenya Federation expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mzee Kadenge, saying, 'We wish all those who have been affected solace in this trying times.'

As news of his passing spread, Kenyans took to social media to pay their respects to the legendary footballer, with many describing him as one of the greatest talents to ever grace a football pitch in Kenya.
