On Sunday, Dr Alfred Mutua, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party's 2022 presidential hopeful, unveiled his campaign manifesto, which includes a range of promises aimed at improving the lives of Kenyans.

One of the key promises is the provision of loans to newlywed couples, with Dr Mutua assuring that his government will offer loans of between Sh500,000 and Sh1 million to each couple as a gift.

The loans will be repayable over a period of 20 years at an interest rate of 0.5 percent, according to Dr Mutua.

“Newlyweds will receive an initial capital from my government of Ksh.500,000 to Ksh.1 Million in kind, payable over 20 years at an interest rate of 0.5 percent as a gift from the government to invest in their new home and entrench the family institution,” he stated.

Dr Mutua's government also plans to invest heavily in youth development by creating a conducive business environment, with the aim of creating 5 million jobs in the first three years.

Companies that hire more than 10 youth in entry-level positions will receive a 5% tax break, while youth-owned businesses will receive a 50% tax break, according to Dr Mutua.

Furthermore, Dr Mutua's government plans to construct public swimming pools in all towns to teach citizens how to swim and prevent aquatic calamities, such as the Mwingi accident where people drowned due to lack of swimming knowledge.
