July 7, 2019 - The battle for control of Jubilee party and the 2022 succession has taken a nasty turn, with rival factions employing dirty tricks to outsmart each other.

Propaganda and skewed messaging have become a common tactic, with each camp using social media platforms to spread outright lies and baseless allegations.

Bloggers and social media influencers have been at the forefront of this campaign, pushing out messages that are designed to sway public opinion and paint the rival camp negatively.

One of the most notable examples of this is the formation of rival lobby groups, including Team Embrace and Inua, which are made up of female MPs allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto respectively.

Each group has also resorted to mobilization along regional lines, with Tangatanga mostly comprised of MPs from DP Ruto's Rift Valley turf and 'rebel' Mount Kenya MPs, while Kieleweke is made up of those from Central Kenya region.

Despite the clear trend, each team claims to have the best interest of Kenyans at heart and out to unite the country.

However, allegations of questionable funds and corruption deals have been leveled against both camps, with the Kieleweke wing accusing the Tangatanga wing of masterminding massive corruption deals and using the proceeds to fund their activities.

The Tangatanga wing, on the other hand, has accused their Kieleweke counterparts of mismanaging public resources to fund their activities, geared towards scuttling DP Ruto's 2022 bid.
