On July 7, 2019, Everton will make history by becoming the first English team to play on Kenyan soil at the Kasarani Stadium.

The match against Kariobangi Sharks is part of the Premier League side's pre-season tour, and Everton forward Theo Walcott is relishing the opportunity to experience the vibrant football culture in Africa.

Walcott, who arrived in Kenya on July 5, 2019, has spoken about his expectations ahead of the encounter, saying, "I'm very excited about the game and we have to give it our all seeing that it's our first pre-season match. We expect a challenge but we are a very competitive side and it's definitely going to be a great game of football," as quoted by SportPesa News.

During their stay in Kenya, the Everton players participated in various cultural and community activities, including a junior coaching session at the Wadi Degla sports complex.

Club boss Marco Silva has named a 44-man squad for the Sharks encounter, which includes Andre Gomes, who is set to make his first appearance in an Everton shirt since moving to Goodison Park permanently.
