Kenyan Premier League (KPL) players have been warned to forget about the Golden Boot in the 2019/20 season by Wazito FC's new striker, Derrick Otanga.

Otanga, who joined Wazito from financially struggling Sony Sugar, turned down advances from league champions Gor Mahia to pursue his goal-scoring ambitions.

During his official unveiling alongside two other players, Otanga expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo's hard work and dedication to the sport.

"I like the hard work Cristiano Ronaldo puts on the pitch and is something I try to learn from every day. I am going for the golden boot," Otanga remarked.

With 13 league goals to his name from the previous season, Otanga is sharpening his scoring boots with the moneybag side and has made it clear to the likes of Ulinzi Star Enosh Ochieng, the best scorer last season, that they should forget about the award.

Before joining Wazito, Otanga started his football career at the Headquarters in Nairobi's Pipeline before moving to Naivas FC in 2017 and later playing for two seasons with the Millers in Awendo.
