On Saturday morning, Karanja Kabage, a prominent city lawyer and business mogul, was pronounced dead at the Nairobi Hospital after being rushed there following a heart attack while driving in the Karen area of Nairobi County.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has led Kenyans in mourning Kabage, describing him as a 'resourceful person who was always willing and ready to offer legal aid to those who sought his help.'
President Kenyatta further stated, 'It is painful to lose a great friend at a time like this. I pray that God will give the family, friends and relatives comfort and fortitude at this trying moment.'
Before his demise, Kabage served in various capacities in the business sector, including as a board member of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Labour Advisory Board, and Energy Regulatory Authority Commission.
He also served as a director at African Reinsurance Corporation and First Reinsurance Brokers Limited.
In 2017, Kabage vied for the Nakuru senatorial seat and later for the Njoro constituency seat but lost to Charity Kathambi.
