Kenyan boxers are making their mark at the Jamal Cup Championships, with former Africa Boxing Championships lightweight gold medallist Nick Okoth and national bantamweight champion Shaffi Hassan Bakari sailing into the semifinals at Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday night.
Okoth, who intends to feature in the Africa Boxing Championships to be held in Cameroon in January/February 2021 and Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England in July, beat Reagan Odindo of Meru in the third round, while Bakari picked points' victory against Meshack Mbithi of Embu.
Okoth's win ensured he easily sailed into the semifinals of the lightweight match, and he was not the only one, as other boxers like George Wainaina of Kenya Police, Robert Gachuhi of Nairobi, and David Mwau of Kisumu also made it to the last four.
