On the fourth day of the Kenya Inter Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games in Embu County, Bungoma and Uasin Gishu teams secured their spots in the women's volleyball finals.
Bungoma defeated Meru 25-20, 25-14, and 25-20, while Uasin Gishu thrashed Nyeri 25-7, 25-9, and 25-7 in their respective semifinal matches.
Earlier in the tournament, Bungoma had overcome Kericho in a closely contested match, winning 3-2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, and 15-12), while Uasin Gishu had defeated former champions Nairobi in straight sets, 25-13, 25-15, and 25-16.
Other quarterfinal matches saw Meru beat Kiambu 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, and 25-20) and Nyeri defeat Nyandarua 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-23, and 25-21).
Meanwhile, in the men's volleyball, Kilifi was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Kisumu 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, and 25-20).
Kilifi setter Evans Changawa expressed disappointment, stating, "We had a short time to train for the games owing to Covid-19 restrictions, which greatly affected our preparations."
Additionally, in football, Kiambu advanced to the semifinals after defeating Kilifi 2-0 at Embu Stadium.
