Kenya Records 88 New Covid-19 Cases, No Deaths Reported

On November 17th, the Ministry of Health reported 88 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,681 tested in the last 24 hours.

Published on November 19th, 2021, this brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 254,541.

The cumulative number of samples tested stands at 2,785,672, with a positivity rate of 1.9 per cent.

Of the new cases, 87 are Kenyans and one foreigner, with 68 males and 20 females affected. The youngest case is a two-year-old child, while the oldest is 84 years old.

Twenty-six patients have recovered from the disease, with 20 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and six from health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,817.

No deaths were reported, keeping the countrywide Covid-19 death toll at 5,325.

There are currently 364 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 997 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Twenty-three patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 10 on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 115 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 113 in the general wards and two in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The cases are distributed across various counties, including Bungoma (43 cases), Mombasa (seven cases), Nairobi and Busia (six cases each), and others.
