Arrest Warrant Issued for Nick Mwendwa ¶
On November 18, 2021, the court issued an arrest warrant for Nick Mwendwa, the President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), after a 7-day period.
According to the court, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji had failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify Mwendwa's release on bail.
The court also stated that the DPP had not provided a clear indication of the charges against Mwendwa, nor had they provided any evidence of the Sh38 million allegedly misused.
Furthermore, the court noted that the police had made serious allegations against Mwendwa, claiming that he had misused over Sh513 million, but the court found this to be an exaggeration.
Bi Wandia Nyamu, the presiding judge, stated that the police had made a grave mistake by arresting Mwendwa without sufficient evidence.
She also noted that the police had not provided any evidence to support their claims, and that Mwendwa was entitled to a fair trial.
The court ordered that Mwendwa be released on bail, but with certain conditions, including that he not interfere with witnesses and that he cooperate with the police in their investigation.
The case is set to be heard on November 25, 2021.
"You are free to go, but you must not interfere with any witnesses or evidence," Bi Nyamu told Mwendwa.
