Muturi's Net Worth Revealed: Sh300 Million ¶
As the 2022 General Election draws near, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has revealed his net worth, stating that he is worth Sh300 million.
Speaking in his weekly online interactive segment on November 18, 2021, Muturi attributed his wealth to bank loans and remuneration in the civil service sector, where he has served for 36 years in various positions.
"I support a lifestyle audit on all leaders, and I urge them to explain how they acquired their wealth," Muturi said.
With the election nine months away, Muturi emphasized that he is best suited to lead the country, citing his practical economics and empowerment policies.
"We can reduce taxes and widen the tax base, collecting more taxes in the process," he said.
Muturi has served as Speaker since 2013 and has been sponsored by the governing Jubilee Party, which he now appears to have ditched in favor of the Democratic Party (DP).
DP has declared Muturi its sole presidential contender, while the Jubilee Party has threatened to expel him from the party.
"There are no plans to expel me from the party," Muturi said.
