On November 18, 2021, a significant development occurred in the corruption trial against Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his four children, among others. The trial, which had been ongoing, was postponed to February 2022.

The postponement came after one of the suspects, Carolyne Anyango, gave birth. This unexpected turn of events led to the adjournment of the trial, which was initially set to continue.

It is worth noting that the governor and his co-accused had been charged afresh in October 2021 and had pleaded not guilty before trial Magistrate Lawrence Mogambi. They were placed on their previous bond and cash bail terms to await trial.

The Sh73.4 million corruption case, which implicated the governor's four children and 13 others, will now resume in February 2022.
