Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has once again criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta for signing laws that are unconstitutional and against the constitution.
This comes after Uhuru signed the Insurance Bill into law, which involves the Senate.
On July 4, 2019, Murkomen posted a tweet criticizing Uhuru's advisors for failing to ensure that the President signs laws that are in line with the constitution.
"It is disappointing to see the Office of the Attorney General and the President's advisors failing to uphold their duty to ensure that the President signs laws that are in line with the constitution. These two laws are unconstitutional because the Senate has been excluded in accordance with Article 110 of the Constitution," the tweet read.
This is not the first time Murkomen has criticized Uhuru for signing laws that were passed without the Senate's input.
In 2018, Murkomen criticized Uhuru for signing the Health Laws, which were passed by the National Assembly without the Senate's input.
He argued that the laws were meant to benefit the national government at the expense of the counties, and that it would have been better if the Senate had been involved in the process.
The Senate and the National Assembly have been at odds over the issue of power, with the Senators accusing the Members of Parliament of trying to undermine their authority.
The Senators have been critical of the MPs for trying to strip them of their powers and for accusing them of not doing their job.
