As the world continues to navigate the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism and hospitality sectors in Kenya are being urged to adopt digital solutions to accelerate recovery.

During a recent Pesapal Caffé Session initiative, Pollmans Group Head of Operations and Tourism Influencer Mohammed Hersi emphasized the need for the industry to change its business models to meet emerging trends, including the shift towards online travel planning.

"You must be able to conduct business without physical contact. Technology enables easier and seamless ways of doing business," Mr. Hersi said.

According to Pesapal Founder Agosta Liko, merchants in the hospitality and tourism industry need innovative payment solutions to differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market.

"When we built the Pesapal payment platform, our focus was developing a solution that would enable seamless process integration for customers and players in the hospitality and tourism industry. We listen to our customers and merchants to simplify their experiences," Liko said.

Industry stakeholders have noted significant transformations in areas such as payments and reservations, with the adoption of online solutions becoming increasingly crucial for attracting both local and international travelers.
