On November 18, 2021, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) launched its first Tax Centre of Excellence in Western Kenya at Kanga High School in Migori County.

The centre aims to promote tax compliance among Kenyans, particularly among the youth, through a school tax club project.
According to KRA Western Region Coordinator Pamela Ahago, the school outreach programme will bridge the gap between citizens who are unaware of their tax obligations and those who are aware but non-compliant.
"The strategic advantage of access and mastery of tax subject by students while still in school, before plunging into employment, will instill a sense of responsibility to paying taxes and holding government to account for taxes paid," said Mrs Ahago.
The centre will be supported by KRA for various activities, including debates, symposia, tax talks, and writing competitions, to empower and disseminate tax knowledge among neighbouring institutions.
