Kenyan football clubs Gor Mahia and Tusker FC have been given the green light to use Nyayo National Stadium for their home matches in the CAF Confederation Cup.

According to a letter from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) dated October 17, 2021, the two teams will play their home matches at the stadium, starting with Gor Mahia's match against AS Otoho d'Oyo of the Congo on November 28, 2021, and Tusker's match against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia on the same day.

Both teams will then travel to their opponents' countries for the return legs on December 5, 2021.

The winners of the second round will proceed to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, where each team will receive a prize of $180,000 (approximately KES 27 million).

Gor Mahia's Lordvick Aduda confirmed that they had received a letter from CAF allowing them to use Nyayo Stadium for their match against AS Otoho d'Oyo.

“CAF has allowed us to use Nyayo Stadium for our match against AS Otoho d'Oyo, but they have emphasized that if we proceed to the group stage, we must find an alternative venue if Nyayo Stadium is not available,” Aduda said.

He added that it was beneficial for them to use Nyayo Stadium, as they would have avoided traveling to Tanzania to play their match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, which would have been costly and affected their fans.
