On Saturday, July 6, 2019, Everton's English Premier League squad arrived in Nairobi aboard a chartered flight, marking the beginning of their tour in the city.
The squad, which includes international stars like Theo Walcott and new signing Andre Gomes, is set to engage in a series of Corporate Social Responsibility activities and participate in the opening of an Everton fans club in Nairobi.
Walcott, a former Arsenal striker, is a fan favorite in Kenya, while Gomes arrived at Everton from Barcelona in a Sh1.8 billion deal.
The visiting team will face off against SportPesa Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks in a friendly match at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Everton has a history of playing against Kenyan teams, having twice played Gor Mahia in the last two years, winning 2-1 in Tanzania and then 4-0 in Liverpool.
The Everton squad includes goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, English defender Leighton Baines, and Morgan Schneiderlin, who played alongside Victor Wanyama at Southampton.
