On July 6, 2019, Nairobi City County Government dismissed reports of a parking fee hike, with Parking Director Tom Tinega labeling the claims as 'fabricated news'.

According to Tinega, the current parking fee of Sh. 200 remains unchanged, and any future increase will be subject to discussion and approval by the county assembly.

He urged motorists to disregard the reports and wait for official announcements from the county government.

However, Finance CEC Charles Kerch had previously hinted at increasing parking fees in the 2019/2020 budget estimates to reduce congestion in the CBD.
