On November 17, 2021, a Nairobi Magistrate's Court made a significant ruling in the case of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) boss Nick Mwendwa. The court declined to grant orders to detain Mwendwa for 14 more days, allowing him to remain free on a Sh4mn cash bail.
Prosecutors had requested the detention to allow for further investigations, but Senior Principal Magistrate Wandia Nyamu disagreed, citing a lack of compelling reason to detain Mwendwa. Instead, she instructed the prosecution to present a charge against Mwendwa within seven days or consider the case closed.
As a result, Mwendwa will continue to enjoy his freedom, albeit under strict conditions. He has been instructed not to contact any FKF employees, attend any football-related matters, or speak to the media.
