On November 13, 2021, Nelson Otsianda, a teacher at Buruburu Girls' High School, tragically lost his life in Diani, Kwale County.

According to an autopsy conducted at the Jocham Hospital mortuary, Otsianda's death was caused by drowning, contradicting initial claims by his family that he was fatally assaulted by four colleagues near the swimming pool at Gisimba Villas.

Msambweni police chief Fanuel Nasio stated that there were no tissue injuries on the deceased, ruling out assault as the cause of his death.

Police now suspect that Otsianda, who had no swimming skills, accidentally fell into the pool and died during a drinking spree with his colleagues.

The teacher's father, Claude Anangwe, confirmed that his son's body would be transported to Umash Funeral Home in Nairobi as plans for his burial began.
