Following the swearing-in of Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu, Nairobi County MCAs are now pushing for the reversal of Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) services back to the county government.

The MCAs are objecting to an extension of NMS's term, arguing that the transfer was made since the county didn't have a substantive governor.

As a county, there have been challenges facing Nairobi since the former Governor Mike Sonko was impeached in 2020, affecting and delaying service delivery to the city residents with the absence of a governor.

Patrick Musili Bangula, the MCA for Hospital Ward, said, 'Nairobi residents should be allowed to enjoy devolution as it was envisaged.'

Speaking after the inauguration of Governor Kananu, Musili congratulated and urged her to serve Nairobians diligently without impartiality.

He also declared his interest to deputize Margaret Wanjiru in the Nairobi gubernatorial race in the upcoming general elections through DP William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
