Argentina secured their spot in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after a 0-0 draw with Brazil on November 16, 2021.

The draw proved sufficient for Argentina, as Chile and Uruguay suffered defeats in their respective matches.

Chile fell to a 2-0 loss at home to Ecuador, while Uruguay were thrashed 3-0 by Bolivia.

Argentina's qualification marks a successful year for the team, who won the Copa America in July with a 1-0 victory over Brazil at the iconic Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Argentina's Rodrigo De Paul praised the team's efforts, saying, 'If we analyze this year, it was beautiful. What we've been through with the fans … everything was complete.'

However, the match against Brazil was a lackluster affair, with few chances created by either team.

Brazil's Fred came closest to scoring, clipping the top of the bar with Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez beaten.

Argentina's Lionel Messi was unable to inspire his team, and even a late effort from him was straight at Brazil goalkeeper Alisson.

Meanwhile, Bolivia's 3-0 victory over Uruguay kept their qualification hopes alive, and Peru's 2-1 win over Venezuela put them level on points with Colombia in the intercontinental play-off spot.
