On November 12, 2021, Kenya's Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed took swift action to reform the country's football association, Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

Following the receipt of an audit report on FKF from Sports Registrar Rose Wasike, CS Mohamed disbanded the federation and appointed a 15-member caretaker committee to oversee football in the country.

The committee, which has a six-month mandate, will be chaired by retired Justice Aaron Ringera and includes notable members such as General Retired Moses Oyugi, Fatma Adan, and Hassan Haji.

CS Mohamed expressed hope that the World Governing body, Fifa, would assist the government in cleaning up the mess in football and not impose a ban on the country.

The move comes at a critical time, with the national football team, Harambee Stars, scheduled to play Uganda Cranes in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.
