On November 12, 2021, Jimmy Wanjigi, a presidential aspirant, expressed his confidence in Raila Odinga's leadership and his willingness to carry the ODM flag in the upcoming general election.

Speaking at the Machakos People's Park, Machakos Town, Wanjigi revealed that over 3,000 ODM members had pledged their support for his presidential bid.

"We have faith in the party's democracy and know where the majority lies," Wanjigi said. "Yesterday, I had over 3,000 ODM members from 12 counties pledge their support for my presidential bid. These 12 counties have over 1,500 members each," he added.

Wanjigi emphasized that he was the only presidential aspirant who had declared his interest in carrying the ODM flag, as Raila Odinga had not publicly announced his candidacy.

ODM had opened nominations for its presidential candidate in April 2021.
