Senegal Wins 1-0 Against Uganda, Advances to Quarterfinals ¶
On July 5, Senegal secured a 1-0 victory over Uganda in a match played at the Cairo International Stadium, advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal's Sadio Mane, a 27-year-old Liverpool player, scored the winning goal and is currently the top scorer in the tournament with three goals, despite losing two penalties and being substituted out of one match.
Uganda's defense was weakened when defender Hassan Wasswa was forced to leave the game early due to a serious injury in the 18th minute.
Senegal took advantage of Uganda's weakness and scored the winning goal through Mane, who outmaneuvered Uganda's goalkeeper Dennis Onyango.
Uganda, one of the teams from East Africa, will be disappointed with the loss, as they had several clear chances to score against Senegal.
Senegal's victory means that they will face Benin in the quarterfinals on July 10 at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
