Kenya's Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has been summoned by the Senate Committee on Labor to answer questions regarding her directive to inspect Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

On Thursday, Amina failed to appear before the Committee, prompting the Chair, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, to issue a summons for her to appear the following Tuesday.

She had sent an apology letter to the Office of the Speaker, citing her engagement in receiving a report from the Registrar of Sports.

However, Senator Sakaja expressed his frustration, stating, 'When parliament calls you, it is not a coffee date where we agree which date works for you. This is a constitutional mandate not a social interaction. It is not a suggestion, it is law and must be followed.'

The summons comes after Amina formed a caretaker committee to run the Federation, chaired by retired judge Aaron Ringera, despite the decision potentially attracting a ban from FIFA due to government interference.

Senator Mautula Kilonzo Jnr had petitioned the Committee to seek answers on the management of sports in the country, following allegations of mismanagement of funds allocated to the Ministry.

Additionally, Amina was expected to be quizzed on the sporting fund and how much is being used for sporting activities in the country, amidst allegations that the national team has not received any financial help.
