Published on November 10, 2021, Kenyan athletes continued their dominance in road races across Europe and America.
John Korir made history by becoming the second Kenyan to win the Los Angeles Marathon, crossing the finish line in 2:12:47 on November 7, 2021. His victory marked a milestone, joining his brother Wesley as a winner of the prestigious race.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, Britain's Natasha Cockram took the top spot with a time of 2:33:16, while Antonia Kwambai of Kenya secured second place in 2:37:36.
On the same day, Samuel Kosgei made a decisive break to win the Barcelona Marathon in 2:06:03, leaving behind Moroccans Othmane El Goumri (2:06:30) and Mohamed Ziani (2:06:33) in second and third place, respectively.
Kenyan athletes also excelled in the Porto Marathon in Portugal, with Zablon Chumba taking the top spot in 2:08:58, followed closely by Bernard Kiprotich (2:09:42) and Ethiopian Asnake Dubre (2:10:14).
At the Rome Half Marathon, Kenyans Panuel Mkungo (62:30) and Joel Mwaina (62:31) led the men's race, while Celliphine Chespol dominated the women's 10km race at the Urban Trail in Lille, France, clocking a fast 30:19.
