Published on November 10, 2021, Governor Wa Iria of Murang'a County has reaffirmed his ambition to run for president in 2022.

Speaking to locals at the Ihura Grounds, Governor Wa Iria emphasized that he has not changed his mind about running for the top seat in 2022.

"I will not be a running mate to any candidate. Instead, I am seeking support from leaders like Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, and others to form the next government," he said.

He stated that he will campaign for support from the Central region, emphasizing that each region is free to choose its own candidate as long as they meet the required qualifications.

"We should not be told that the Mount Kenya region is not eligible to have a presidential candidate. The Constitution is clear. No region is barred from having a presidential candidate in the next election," he said.
