On November 9, 2021, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK), also known as Posta, signed a partnership agreement to enhance e-commerce and intra-regional trade for KAM members.
According to Phyllis Wakiaga, KAM's CEO, Posta's vast network of over 600 branches across the country, along with its regional linkages, will be crucial in implementing the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
The partnership will provide KAM members with same-day and overnight courier services, dedicated rider services, clearing and forwarding services, among other benefits.
Posta and KAM plan to implement additional programs, including international courier services, direct mail marketing, and training for KAM members on how to capitalize on the collaboration.
A joint management committee will oversee the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), ensuring coordination of collaborative activities and monitoring of joint activities.
Notably, Posta recently received KSh72 million from Trade Mark East Africa to enhance its cross-border e-commerce deliveries, aiming to increase its daily package processing capacity to 10,000 packages.
