Published on November 9, 2021, a global shortage of 0.5 ml AD syringes has been reported, affecting vaccination efforts against COVID-19 and malaria.
According to Revital health care [EPZ] Ltd sales, marketing and R&D director Roneek Vora, the shortage has created a crisis worldwide.
The syringes are in high demand due to their use in both COVID-19 and malaria vaccinations, with Roneek stating, "We are optimistic that when malaria vaccines come out next year every child will require four doses per year."
Revital health care [EPZ] Ltd has received Sh 440 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to increase production of the syringes, with plans to export 320 million pieces to other countries.
The company's current capacity is 74 million pieces per year, and Roneek announced plans to add 100 more workers to the existing workforce of 500, with a further 5000 indirect jobs expected next year.
