As the Kenya Polo Association season draws to a close, the stage is set for the final two competitions: the Jamhuri Cup Championships and the Christmas Championships. Both events will take place at Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil, next month.
The Jamhuri Cup Championships are scheduled for December 10-12, while the Christmas Championships will follow from December 27-19. These tournaments attract top players from East and Central Africa, making them highly competitive events.
According to Silke Hampson, Secretary General of the Kenya Polo Association, the organization is ready to host the two events, which come after the Moi Cup Championships held at the same venue. Hampson noted that hosting the tournaments has not been easy, given the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Locally, participants will be drawn from Manyatta, Northern Kenya Polo, and Nairobi Polo Clubs. The 2022 Kenya Polo Association season is set to begin in January, with four successive tournaments slated for Nairobi Polo Club, including the Davis Cup from January 8-9, the Maria Bencivenga Championships from January 15-16, the Resolute Salute Cup from January 22-23, and the Chairman's Cup from January 29-30.
