On Friday, July 5, 2019, Kenya's golf team secured a two-point advantage over hosts Uganda in the third round of the Victoria Cup at the Uganda Golf Club course.

Leading players Robinson Owiti and William Odera, along with Simon Njogu and Mathew Wahome, contributed significantly to Kenya's victory. The pair of Korby Gatiramu and Daniel Kiragu also won against Uganda's Michael Alunga and Grace Kasango.

However, the hosts put up a strong fight in the afternoon's foursomes, winning two matches and halving one against a Kenyan victory and halve for seven points against Kenya's nine.

Kenya's team coach, John van Liefland, acknowledged the Ugandans' strong performance, saying, "The Ugandans put up a strong fight in the afternoon having beaten them in the morning. I will definitely give the Ugandans a run for their money in the final round singles which I believe our players are strong individually."

Kenya has retained the Victoria Cup, donated by former Boston marathon champion Moses Tanui, for the past three years.
