Kitui, Kenya, November 6, 2021 - Deputy President William Ruto has urged religious leaders to step forward and play a key role in shaping the country's future ahead of the 2022 polls.
Speaking during a meeting with leaders in Kitui Town, Ruto emphasized that faith leaders should not only pray for the country but also use their networks and expertise to influence the public's voting.
'The kind of leaders we elect inform our country's stability and development,' Ruto said, emphasizing the importance of electing leaders who will unite the country.
He challenged leaders contesting for various positions in the coming elections to rally behind national political parties that will unite Kenya, warning that running an ethnic-based party is incompatible with the country's unity.
Ruto also outlined his vision for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party he is committed to building, which aims to bring together people from all walks of life and create at least four million jobs through a government fund for enterprises.
