Alfred Mutua, the Machakos Governor, is embroiled in a contentious dispute with his former partner Lillian Ng'ang'a over the ownership of the A&L hotel, located in Machakos County. The hotel, which officially opened on July 24, 2020, has been at the center of a bitter feud between the two.

According to Lillian, she conceived the idea of the hotel and was the sole owner of Ndash Enterprises, the company that owns the hotel, when it was first incorporated. However, she claims that she relinquished 50% of her shares to Mutua after they both became personal guarantors for the hotel following a loan facility of over Ksh145 million from a local commercial bank.

Despite this, Lillian alleges that she was unfairly stripped of her 50% stake in the hotel and is now seeking to reclaim her rightful shares. She claims to have only 200 shares out of a possible 2,000 she is entitled to for her 50% ownership in the hotel, which she terms as 'fraudulent.'

The dispute between the two has taken an ugly turn, with Lillian accusing Mutua of allegedly threatening her life and seizing a motor vehicle belonging to her. The A&L hotel, which is the only five-star hotel in Machakos, has several amenities including a restaurant, a bar, and a garden, and would cost an average of Ksh14,500 per night.

Further, it has unique features such as a waterfall on the side of the building. The hotel's fate is currently unknown, with both parties seeking to claim a significant stake.
