Former Machakos first lady Lillian Nganga has revealed the reasons behind her breakup with Governor Alfred Mutua.

According to Ms. Nganga, the governor did not want her to work, as it would embarrass him and make it seem like he was not supporting her.

Ms. Nganga shared that when she told Governor Mutua she was going to get a job last year, he became angry, saying she would embarrass him by working.

The two met in a Mombasa flight when Ms. Nganga was working as a flight attendant and Governor Mutua was a government spokesman, who was going through his divorce at the time.

They started living together in a small apartment in Lang'ata, Nairobi, where Governor Mutua would wake up to go to the Office of the Spokesperson and even launched his quest for Machakos governorship.

After Governor Mutua won the governorship, they moved to Kileleshwa, Nairobi, where they lived for eight years, traveling and sharing the same outlook on life.

Ms. Nganga described Governor Mutua as a pleasant person, but ultimately, the inconsistencies and his desire to maintain a certain image led to their breakup.
