William Ruto's Firm Handshake with Sicily Kariuki Sparks Online Stir

Deputy President William Ruto's firm handshake with Health CS Sicily Kariuki at the funeral of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore has sparked a heated online debate.

The incident occurred on July 5, 2019, at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, where Ruto and Kariuki were among the mourners.

According to eyewitnesses, Ruto appeared to be shaking hands with Kariuki in a firm and friendly manner, which some interpreted as a sign of a close relationship between the two.

However, others felt that the handshake was unusual, given the ongoing controversy surrounding Ruto's alleged involvement in the attempted assassination of his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta.

Some of the reactions from social media users include:

"This is a clear sign of a close relationship between Ruto and Kariuki," tweeted @LempaaSuyinka.

"Ruto's handshake with Kariuki is a clear indication that he is still in control," tweeted @MacOtani.

Despite the online backlash, Ruto and Kariuki have maintained a calm demeanor, with Ruto even going as far as to shake hands with Kariuki in a firm and friendly manner.

It remains to be seen how this incident will play out in the ongoing political drama in Kenya.
