On November 5, 2021, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced a $4 million grant to Revital Healthcare (EPZ) Limited, a Kenyan medical supply manufacturer, to increase production of auto-disable vaccine syringes.

Revital Healthcare, Africa's only WHO prequalified manufacturer for vaccine syringes, will use the funding to boost its annual production from approximately 72 million to nearly 265 million syringes by the end of 2022. This increased capacity will help meet more than half of the routine immunization needs in Africa.

Global demand for auto-disable syringes surged in 2021 as COVID-19 vaccines rolled out worldwide. Recent estimates project a significant shortfall in auto-disable syringes in 2022, which could impact COVID-19 vaccination and childhood immunization efforts in low- and middle-income countries.

Revital Healthcare: A Key Player in Global Vaccine Supply

Revital Healthcare is contracted by UNICEF and WHO for syringe supply, making it a crucial partner in the global effort to provide safe and effective vaccines.
