Published on November 5, 2021, Kenya Power has embarked on a significant overhaul, suspending 59 top officials in the Supply Chain Division.

The move comes in response to a presidential Task Force report that recommended a review of Power Purchase Agreements to reduce the high cost of power.

According to a statement from the management, the decision was made in compliance with the Taskforce recommendations, which include a forensic audit to identify areas of possible leakages in the Supply Chain Division.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma has assured that the government is committed to implementing the reforms outlined in the task force report, aimed at streamlining and strengthening the sector.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged to lower power costs before Christmas, with the Taskforce recommending a 33% reduction in the end-user tariff by December 25.
