Published on November 5, 2021, the US Pentagon has raised concerns over China's growing military influence, particularly in terms of its expanding global logistics network.

The US Department of Defence has stated that China is seeking to establish a more robust overseas logistics and basing infrastructure to project and sustain military power at greater distances.

According to the Pentagon's annual report to the US Congress, China has likely considered several countries, including Kenya, as potential locations for PLA facilities.

China's first foreign military base was opened in Djibouti in 2017, a strategically important location that serves as a gateway to the Middle East, Red Sea, and the Suez Canal.

China describes its Djibouti base as a 'logistics facility', and the Pentagon claims that China is planning to open many more of these facilities.

China's embassy in Nairobi has denied the allegations, stating that the information is 'totally false'. However, the Kenyan military has not commented on the report.
