Published on November 5, 2021, a court case in Nairobi exposed a shocking land scandal involving two businessmen who allegedly faked the death of a British engineer.
According to an affidavit presented to the court, Pavel Paul Curzon claimed that Martin Muthama and Stephen Kirianki prepared a death certificate to change the registration of his property worth Sh200 million in Kileleshwa and Ngong Road.
Curzon alleged that the two land fraudsters timed their move to invade his land while he was away in the UK, forcing his workers to flee and taking possession of the property.
However, the businessmen maintained that Curzon died in August 2006 after buying the property in 2005, and that the person claiming to be Curzon is a ghost.
Justice Samson Okong'o of the Environment and Lands Court summoned the Chief Lands Registrar and the officer commanding Kilimani Police Station to appear in court and provide records and information related to the case.
